Beavercreek City Schools to Renovate Donated Boeing 727 Jet

Beavercreek City Schools Board of Education took the first step in creating an innovative STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) classroom when it voted to accept the gift of a Boeing 727 jet from Federal Express. Board of Education member Jo Ann Rigano received notice that the district would receive the donation.DSC_0043_1

According to Beavercreek School District Superintendent Bill McGlothlin, the jet will be renovated into the Beavercreek STEM Jet classroom for interested schools throughout region.

Dayton International will house the jet during the renovation period. Once renovations are complete, the jet will be moved to its permanent home on a Wright State University property.

The Dayton International Airport, Clark State Community College and Wright State University are partnering with Beavercreek Schools to make the project a success.

The project, which will be funded through sponsorships, grants, and private donations, will allow the partners to train students at the middle school, high school and post-secondary level in aviation and aerospace. The Beavercreek STEM Jet also targets the learning needs of elementary students throughout the region.
